Eric Hinderaker, Professor of History, University of Utah, will focus on the fascinating ball-headed war clubs on view in the Splendid Heritage exhibition. He will discuss the culture of war in Eastern Woodlands Indians, the intimacy of violence and the power of the war club. As ritual objects, war clubs linked together communal action and an individual's masculine honor becoming both art object and ethnographic artifact. This lectures will take place in the UMFA Dumke Auditorium.
